Are you knee-deep in the blogging world and want to talk to some like-minded individuals? Check out some of these fantastic conferences around the world. Not only will you learn a plethora of new information to improve your blog, but you’ll get the chance to talk to individuals with the same passion as you.
BlogHer Conference: BlogHer runs a blogging conference August 6-7 in New York City. It focuses on helping female bloggers gain a presence on the Internet, as well as how to turn blogging into a paid career. It also has a focus on political and social blogging.
BlogWorld and New Media Expo: Running October 15-16 in Las Vegas, this conference focuses on general blogging and Internet businesses.
Blog Indiana: Blog Indiana runs from August 20th to the 21st, and focuses primarily on how to gain viewers and use a blog to promote non-blogging interests, as well as on general social media.
Netroots Nation: Running July 22-25 in Las Vegas, this blogging conference promotes using the Internet, including blogging, in order to foster liberal and progressive causes. This year, Senator Al Franken will be speaking.
Blissdom: Blissdom already had its 2010 conference in February, but it is usually a yearly event so be sure to check back in later. Like BlogHer, this blogging conference is primarily for female bloggers. Blissdom also specializes on supportive, positive help for female bloggers looking to follow their “bliss,” or passion. It also has a Canadian conference.
Wine Bloggers’ Conference: This organization actually runs two conferences: one, in Virginia, on July 22-24 in 2011, and one in 2010 in Vienna, Austria, October 22-24. The conference seeks “to discuss the convergence between the culture of wine and the web.” If you blog about wine, this is definitely a must for you.
South by South West: South by South West, which also goes by the acronym SXSW, is a general new-media conference that will be meeting next during the week of March 11-20 2011 in Austin, Texas. However, it does have some blogging-relating content, like “The Broke Diaries: Using Blogs and Twitter to Live Cheaply”. This conference would be fantastic for any current bloggers looking to expand outside of the blogging world.
Northern Voice: This conference is held in spring in Vancouver, British Columbia, and specializes in personal blogging and social media, rather than blogging for profit. Its 2010 convention has already happened, but it will be back in 2011.
Type-A Mom Conference: This conference, held September 24-26 in Asheville, North Carolina, has a focus on “mom bloggers”. It also emphasizes using blogging and social media to make money. People willing to volunteer may get free or reduced-price entrance into the conference.
Latin American Bloggers’ Convention: Held November 12-14 in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, this conference focuses on, as its name implies, bloggers from Latin America. It also has general information for beginning bloggers and is a great first step for anybody looking to break into the blogging world.
