Why? Because in life I am very direct, I call things what they are and don’t sugar coat.

However, I recently decided (and your post confirmed it – thanks for that) that it’s extremely important to not sound like what you THINK other people would like for you to sounds like.

Still, I think some of us work in very, very difficult niches and that analyzing mistakes isn’t always the greatest thing. Right now I’m on a major push to get organic traffic. Truth be told, the internet is very repetitive. I know I’m doing something relatively unique. Sometimes it’s just sheer effort that gets us where we need to be, and I think I’m at that stage. Not to turn the comment into just about me, this can also show others that there are certain points where you have to figure out the difference between using your blog to write about things you’ve learned and implemented or if you’re just rambling on about theories which were never put into place.

Want to write better content? Spend time to do these, find out the little things that others haven’t picked up – even if you take a few extra days to write content it’ll be so much better

Yeah, it can be challenging. I try to keep a journal with all ideas that pop into my head to help avoid writer’s block.

this is a great checklist.

I read a lot of blogs and ‘me too content’ is a great turn off foe r me. At the same time, i get that it’s a lot of work to keep coming up with new stuff. That’s where developing a unique voice really seems to help. If something is well written and engaging, I don’t mind if it’s covering a subject that everyone is writing about.

I know, for my blog, the problem is posting irregularly. The people who do read my blog give me great feedback, but I’m lucky to post more than once a week up to this point. I illustrate my own posts and sometimes the artwork can take hours.

My goal at the moment is to try and simplify my posts and to have a few regular features each with their own image that gets repeated each week.

Yup it is important to have posts which may not be daily, but regular.

“You don’t write like you talk.”

I was reading a post over at menswithpens.ca and there they advice the exact same thing. To have your own voice shine through your writing and posts.

It is very important to have your voice shine through your blog posts. If you just try to make up writing and not have your natural voice, then readers will know that. It is best to have your own voice in writing.
