How to boost your pageviews
19 COMMENTS
Increasing Page Views is a science as well as an art. By ‘science’, I mean that there is a rational reason behind every technique and the ‘art’ is, to use it in the best way possible and which suits the blog.
In a reader’s perspective, a blog should be engaging, precise and well written. Along with that, it should also be navigable, so that the reader doesn’t have to search for the next post, if he/she wants to read further. Keep in mind, that the readers of this era who are surrounded by social media websites, have very little time to waste.
Many different techniques can be developed to increase page views. Here are some that I have used in my blog:
1. Link inside a post
Add links to keywords in your post, linking to relevant posts. This is the best technique to increase pageviews. This is because readers are already engaged when they are reading your posts, and they usually prefer to read each and every aspect of the post. It is important to note that you should not flood your post with links to all your previous posts. Instead link to 2-5 posts that you think are relevant to the content. These links will also serve the purpose of search engine optimization.
2. Page Navigation
As mentioned previously, the best technique to reduce the Bounce Rate (It essentially represents the percentage of initial visitors to a site who “bounce” away to a different site, rather than continue on to other pages within the same site) is to provide a good navigation. In order to do that, you need to add links to specific posts or pages.
a. Add specific pages just below the header
Pages like “Advertise Here”, “Sitemap” give more information about the site.
b. Add Widgets like:
- Recent Posts
- Random Posts
- Popular posts
- Categories
- Tag Clouds
These widgets increase the probability, that a reader reads more than one web page per visit. The placement of these widgets depends on the blog and you need to experiment to see which one works best for you.
3. Republish Feeds
If you own multiple blogs, it is best if you republish feeds in other blogs. These increase visibility and also the traffic potential.
4. Increase Subscribers
A blog cannot grow without subscribers, as a plant cannot live without water. Subscribers are readers that like your content and have subscribed to further updates in your blog. Whenever you submit a new post, you always see a spike in the traffic. The major chunk of this traffic comes from your loyal reader or subscribers. Subscribers have a tendency to read more than one page and hence they decrease the overall bounce rate. You need to increase the subscriber count to increase pageviews at a rapid rate.
5. Increase Traffic
All the techniques above help in decreasing bounce rate, but to increase the number of visits, you need to increase traffic. Increasing traffic is not the most easiest task to do, but with constant effort you can reach to the level, where you see bloggers like Darren Rowse. Try the Tips to get Traffic to your Blog to boost traffic.

Today, reddit just gave me 300+ visits with a 97% new visits. (That’s a good thing) But.. It came along with a 94% bounce rate. I guess I have to work on getting more subscribers.

That’s really good that you got 300+ visits from reddit itself. The bounce rate of social bookmarking websites is usually very high but it helps in gaining backlinks

Very helpful, thank you! I’ve only been blogging for about 5 months and right now the only people who really read my work are friends. I’m still trying to get my supscriptions up. One thing that has helped is adding a link to my blog on Twitter and Facebook for every new post. Hashtags on Twitter are great too

Promote it on twitter, then you can expect to increase your traffic. Add some seo to your blog, and you may gain more traffic. Subscriptions will increase if you blog consistently.
